Keeyan Itejere, the 6-foot-9, 190-pound power forward from Grace Christian (NC) School, announced his commitment to Texas on Monday, via Twitter.
“I’m excited to announced I will be committing to Texas,” Itejere wrote via Twitter. “I want to thank all the coaches that have recruited me. I’m grateful for my parents and the sacrifices they’ve made for me.”
Itejere chose Texas over VCU, Radford, UNC Wilmington, Little Rock-Arkansas, Utah Valley, Rhode Island and Elon.
“I just really felt like it was the right fit for me,” Itejere told 247Sports.com Monday. “The coach [Shaka Smart] holds a lot of the values that I look up to, relationships coming first, me becoming the best version of me that I can at the end of the day even outside of basketball, I just really felt like he was the right fit for me.”
He is the first commit in the Longhorns’ 2021 class.
Texas currently has one commitment in the Class of 2020 with five-star forward Greg Brown Jr.
