St. John’s wing L.J. Figueroa is in the Transfer Portal

By ADAM ZAGORIA

St. John’s junior wing L.J. Figueroa is in the Transfer Portal and figures to have a number of suitors.

Figueroa will have to sit the 2020-21 season unless he obtains a waiver.

As a junior during the 2019-20 season, Figueroa averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 32 games played. He led the Big East with 1.9 steals per game. He would have been St. John’s leading returning scorer.

In March, Figueroa announced he would enter the NBA Draft waters.

Most recently, St. John’s was unable to take Monmouth grad transfer Ray Salnave because the program was under the impression Figueroa would be returning to campus. The former Cardozo star landed at DePaul instead.

Now St. John’s has a scholarship to use for next season.

This is a developing story. Check back here for more updates.
