Stony Brook grad transfer Andrew Garcia has committed to Georgia, per Andrew Slater.
Garcia, a 6-foot-5 guard from Harlem, N.Y., will have one year of eligibility remaining and will be immediately eligible for the 2020-21 season.
“Tom Crean was a big factor,” Garcia told ZAGSBLOG. “I really connected with the coaching staff and I loved the pace at which they play. They see me as a versatile player who can score and defend effectively.”
Garcia joins K.D. Johnson, Josh Taylor, Mikal Starks, Jonathan Ned, JUCO forward Tyron McMillan and George Mason transfer Justin Kier in Georgia’s incoming class.
With the likely departure of star freshman Anthony Edwards, Garcia will play alongside freshman Sahvir Wheeler in the Bulldog backcourt.
As a junior during the 2019-20 season, Garcia averaged 13.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He started in all 33 games for Stony Brook this past season and was named to the All-America East second team.
Garcia has played in 66 games over the last two seasons.
