USC’s Onyeka Okongwu declares for the NBA Draft

By JACOB POLACHECK

USC freshman Onyeka Okongwu is entering the 2020 NBA Draft, he announced Wednesday via Twitter.

“My freshman campaign at the school has been nothing short of spectacular,” Okongwu wrote, thanking head coach Andy Enfield and the USC staff for welcoming him. “To my brothers on the team, the love and bond I have for you guys is real and it’s something I will always keep close to me. … To the fans at Galen, thank you for the consistent love and support every time I stepped on the court.”

Okongwu averaged 16.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 1.2 steals in 28 games played as a freshman at USC, earning All-Pac-12 first-team honors.

Okongwu is currently ranked as the No. 6 best available prospect in the 2020 Draft on ESPN’s Big Board.
