SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Cliff Omoruyi remains uncommitted, but the four-star senior big man says all of his top five schools are passionately pulling for him to join their program.
The Roselle (N.J.) Catholic big man has visited Auburn officially, but plans to visit the rest of the schools after the season, as reported this week by ZAGSBLOG.
However, the pull to commit is already coming from fan bases. The 6-foot-11 senior said that Auburn, Kentucky and Rutgers have the most persistent fans on social media. Omoruyi attended Rutgers’ win over Indiana on Sunday and once again heard the school’s faithful chant his name.
“It felt good,” he said after posting 14 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks as the Lions lost to Bishop Gorman, 55-47, on Saturday at the Hoophall Classic. ” I felt special when they started chanting, ‘We want Cliff, we want Cliff.'”
The student section started a “We Want Cliff” chant for Cluff Omoruyi, and eventually the whole RAC joined him. The 4-star center stood up and got a raucous response: pic.twitter.com/AY8JpdeJ8a

Omoruyi also recognized the pedigree of Kentucky and noted their expansive history with top recruits.
“Kentucky is a school everyone wants to play at,” he said. “In college basketball, everyone wants to play for Coach Cal.”

Kentucky commits Devin Askew and Terrence Clarke are among his recruiters. But Omoruyi noted that the current basketball program is not the only factor in his decision-making process. He is also thinking about the school and its history of success.
“I need a school with a good engineering program, and I think all the schools I want have good alumni,” Omoruyi said.
