North Carolina star Cole Anthony says he’ll ‘be back soon’

By JACOB POLACHECK

It’s been 30 days since North Carolina freshman point guard Cole Anthony underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

On Tuesday night, Anthony posted a comment on an Instagram post that ready, “I will be back soon.”

A source close to Anthony told ZAGSBLOG he’s “on the road to recovery.”

After the surgery, UNC released a statement that said Anthony was expected to return four to six weeks from when the surgery took place. That would put him back anytime over the next two weeks.

Anthony averaged 19.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 36.8 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from three over Carolina’s first nine games.

ESPN has Anthony projected to be the No. 7 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

North Carolina has struggled without Anthony, going just 2-5 in his absence. Four different point guards have started for UNC this season.

The Tar Heels are currently riding a three-game losing streak with their next game coming at Pittsburgh on Saturday.
