Roy Williams says 2019-20 North Carolina team is ‘least gifted I’ve ever coached’

By: JAMES SZUBA

North Carolina head coach Roy Williams said his 2019-20 Tar Heel squad is the least gifted he’s ever coached on his radio show Monday night.

His Tar Heel team is coming off a 96-83 drubbing to Georgia Tech on Saturday, which put North Carolina at 8-6 on the season.

“We stunk, OK. We were not very good. The crazy thing about it is, our team, and we’ve had some very gifted teams, this is not a very gifted team. It’s just not,” Williams said.

North Carolina has lost a troika of players to knee injuries, including freshman star Cole Anthony. Anthony Harris and Sterling Manley are out for the season with torn ACLs. It’s unclear whether or not Anthony, a projected top-5 pick in the NBA Draft, will return for the Tar Heels this season.

North Carolina returns to action against Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
