Arizona, Arizona State, USC among those in pursuit of Prolific Prep big man Frank Anselem (UPDATED)

By ADAM ZAGORIA

The recruitment of Prolific Prep big man Frank Anselem continues to escalate.

Arizona, Arizona State and USC have all offered and are in hot pursuit of the 6-foot-10 big man from Suwanee, Ga. Anselem is currently the No. 9-ranked center in the Class of 2021 per 247Sports.com but has the option of going to college in 2020.

“I plan to visit Arizona and Arizona state along with USC but no official date has been set,” Anselem sai.

“Frank has the option to go 2020,” Phillippe Doherty of Prolific Prep said. “Frank is looking at potentially setting up visits to USC and Arizona during the season but has not decided yet if he will visit both officially but both USC and Arizona are recruiting him hard and are looking to get him on campus officially.”

Arizona coach Sean Miller and an assistant were at Prolific Prep on Monday, while ASU head man Bobby Hurley is due in on Wednesday. USC coach Andy Enfield has also been there, as has Oregon’s Dana Altman.

Arizona is clearly in the market for a big man as they will also see 2021/20 Canadian big man Javonte Brown-Ferguson on Tuesday in Canada, as will Marquette, Texas A&M and UCLA. Brown-Ferguson has taken officials to A&M and Kansas, and trips to UConn this weekend.

“Sean Miller is looking for a mobile, athletic big that can run, switch out on defense and move, rebound, defend, and be a presence inside,” Doherty said. “Frank fills a lot of the above boxes.”

Since June, Anselem has picked up offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Rutgers, USC, New Mexico, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, DePaul, Nebraska, LSU, TCU and Georgia Tech.

He took his official to LSU this past weekend and previously took one to Nebraska.

“The LSU visit was really good, I enjoyed it,” he said. “The campus is great, facilities are good. It’s a very good academic school and they are one of the best in SEC basketball. Overall I liked it a lot. The coaches are great, coach [Will] Wade is a great guy and also Bill [Armstrong] is my guy!

“I think my versatility on both sides of the floor can greatly change any college program,” he said recently. “On offense, I can operate from the high and low post and I’m also working to expand my game beyond the arc.

“Defensively, I can switch and contain smaller guards, chase wings around and also guard the post, so I can do a lot of things.”
