Duke lands Jaemyn Brakefield

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Just two days after picking up an offer from Duke, Jaemyn Brakefield, the 6-foot-8 forward from Huntington Prep (WV) and Phenom University AAU, committed to the Blue Devils.

“Just committed,” he told ZAGSBLOG.

The Blue Devils currently have a five-man recruiting class of guards D.J. Steward and Jeremy Roach and forwards Brakefield, Henry Coleman and Jalen Johnson.

Brakefield recently took official visits to Auburn and Louisville. He also considered Michigan and Ole Miss

This year on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Brakefield averaged 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds in 17 games played.

According to 247Sports, Brakefield is ranked No. 38 nationally and is the No. 6 power forward.

“He’s a do-it-all type that fills the stat sheet,” Huntington Prep coach Arkell Bruce said. “A workhorse and a tough competitor.”
