Defending national champion Villanova is the No. 1 seed in the Big East Tournament for the fifth time in six years after winning the Big East title outright on Saturday.

The Wildcats won the crown despite losing at Seton Hall because Marquette later lost at home to Georgetown.

Seton Hall is the 3 seed with Xavier as the 4.

No. 9 Butler will meet No. 8 Providence at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, while No. 7 St. John’s will face No. 10 DePaul at 9:30.

Villanova will open play on Thursday at noon against the Butler/Providence winner. That will be followed by No. 4 Xavier/No. 5 Creighton at 2:30. The Thursday night session starts at 7 with the St. John’s/DePaul winner playing No. 2 Marquette, followed by No. 3 Seton Hall vs. No. 6 Georgetown at 9:30.

The semis tip at 6:30 and 9 p.m. on Friday on FS1, with the final set for 6 p.m. Saturday on Fox.
