There is good news for Duke freshman point guard Tre Jones and the No. 1 Blue Devils.
While the school had initially said Jones would be out “indefinitely” with a separated shoulder, he is now listed as day-to-day and has not officially been ruled out of Saturday’s game against No. 4 Virginia at Cameron Indoor.
“Obviously, it’s great news for us that Tre hopefully won’t be out as long as we may have feared,” Duke junior forward Javin DeLaurier told NewsObserver.com Thursday after practice.
Said R.J. Barrett: “He’ll be good. I have faith in my guy Tre. He’s got our back. No matter what it is, he’ll be back. He’ll be playing for us again.”
Jones injured his shoulder Monday night when he crashed to the floor in the first half in Duke’s overtime loss to Syracuse.
The 6-foot-3 Jones is averaging 8.5 points, 5.9 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals.
