Hunter Dickinson, the 7-foot-2 center from DeMatha Catholic (MD), has taken official visits to Notre Dame (Sept. 1) and Purdue (Oct. 19). He broke down each visit for ZAGSBLOG Tuesday:
Notre Dame: “Their pitch centered around the DeMatha family they have there. With [assistant coach] Rod Balanis and DJ Harvey [both DeMatha products], I won’t be going into an unfamiliar situation. Also, they can offer me something none of the other schools can offer and that’s a Notre Dame degree.”
Purdue: “They love big men. Their success with all the big men they’ve had under coach [Matt] Painter is appealing.”
Dickinson was also on campus at Maryland last month (Nov. 28) to see the Maryland vs. Virginia game.
“It wasn’t really a visit,” said Dickinson. “I just went to the game. They want me to go on an official later.”
Dickinson says he currently has no visits planned. He plans to narrow his list after the high school season.
“I’m more focused on the high school season,” he said. “If I do visit a school, I plan to do It in the spring.”
According to 247Sports, Dickinson is ranked as the No. 19 overall player in the Class of 2020 and the No. 1 player from the state of Maryland.
He currently holds offers from schools such as Notre Dame, Purdue, Maryland, Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Providence, South Carolina, Stanford, Syracuse, and Virginia, among others.
