LSU hosts Top 100 prospects Trendon Watford, Lester Quinones

By ADAM ZAGORIA

LSU hosted a pair of Top 100 recruits this past weekend in Trendon Watford, the 6-foot-9 forward from Mountain Brook (AL) High School, and Lester Quinones, the 6-4 shooting guard from IMG Academy (FL).

Watford is ranked No. 23 by ESPN.com, while Quinones is No. 88.

“We pretty much were around each other the entire visit,” Watford said. “That was my first time meeting him.”

As for LSU’s message, Watford said: “Their message was that they feel like they can send guys to the NBA this year and they feel like with my versatility they can use me in some of the ways they’ll you Naz Reid this year.”

The 6-10 Reid out of Roselle (N.J.) Catholic is considered a future pro.

Watford previously tripped to Memphis during the same weekend James Wiseman, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2019, was also at their Midnight Madness. Boogie Ellis and Jahmius Ramsey were also at Memphis on officials that weekend, while Precious Achiuwa and DJ Jeffries were there on unofficials.

Watford also plans to visit Indiana, Florida State and Alabama. He said dates aren’t finalized but he plans to visit Indiana for the Louisville game on Dec. 8, and Alabama for the Kentucky game Jan. 5.

“I know the Alabama official visit is when they play Kentucky,” he said previously. “I’m not sure when the Florida State one is, but I’m pretty sure I’m taking one.”

He hopes to decide sometime in early 2019.

“I’ll probably decide, if not March, then probably February, end of season, like that,” he said. “So I won’t be having to deal with during my whole high school season.”

This was Quinones’ first official visit.

“I had a great time on my visit and they made it clear that I was their guy that I was looking for,” Quinones said, adding he has no other visits planned.
