Wendell Moore, the 6-foot-5 small forward from Cox Mill (NC) High School, announced his commitment to Duke on Monday, in an announcement at his high school. Moore took his official visit to Duke last month (Sept. 22).
“If I am fortunate enough to make it to the NBA, this is always a place I can call home,” he told ESPN’s Jeff Borzello. “It’s always been a dream of mine to go to Duke.”

According to 247Sports, Moore is ranked as the No. 23 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 1 player from the state of North Carolina. He is the first commit in the Blue Devils’ 2019 class.
Moore chose Duke over NC State, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Wake Forest. In addition to his Duke visit, he also took official visits to NC State (Sept. 1), South Carolina (Sept. 8), and Wake Forest (Sept. 29).
Duke is also in contention for a number of 2019 prospects including Vernon Carey, the No. 2 ranked player in 2019 per 247Sports. Carey will take an official visit to Duke on October 19.
