Corbin Merritt, the 6-foot-9 center from Daytona State College (FL), announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Monday night, via Twitter.
Merritt redshirted last year at Daytona State and will play this year at Daytona State as a redshirt freshman. He will come to Oklahoma in 2019 as a redshirt sophomore with three years to play.
Coach Lon Kruger is getting an athletic big man who has started to develop an outside game. He is known for his dominance during transition as he runs the floor well. His athleticism and length really help on the defensive aspect where he consistently racks up blocks. Merritt has started to expand his arsenal by stepping outside the paint for a mid-range jumper.
He joins shooting guard De’Vion Harmon, small forward Jalen Hill and power forward Victor Iwuakor in Oklahoma’s 2019 class.
