Indiana reeled in their first commit for the 2019 class in Armaan Franklin, who announced his decision on Twitter.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Indianapolis and the Nike MeanStreets AAU program is currently ranked No. 133 in the Class of 2019, per 247Sports.com
Armaan proved his ranking with consistent play throughout the EYBL season. During the prestigious Peach Jam, Franklin averaged 14.2 points and 4.3 rebounds, while dishing out 2.4 assists.
Prior to committing, the guard cut his list to 3. The final three schools included Indiana, Purdue, and Xavier. Xavier seemed to be the favorite for a long stretch but they fell off as the leader as he did not take an official visit. Purdue then was considered the favorite as he went on the visit and shortly later said he was ready to announce.
He should bring a lot of energy, great transition play, and a consistent mid-range game to the Hoosiers for the 2019-20 season.
Franklin is Indiana’s first commit in the Class of 2019. Now Archie Miller and his staff will look to add more pieces to create a talented class. They remain involved for numerous high-profile players, including shooting guard James Bouknight, wings Keion Brooks and Matthew Hurt and forwards Isaiah Stewart, Trendon Watford and Trayce Jackson-Davis.
