Precious Achiuwa, the 6-foot-9, 215-pound wing from the New Heights AAU program, says he remains wide open in his recruitment and will begin to form a college list this fall.
Achiuwa, who averaged 20.9 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists last season at St. Benedict’s Prep, holds offers from UCLA, Kansas, St. John’s, UConn, Tulane, Florida State, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and Michigan, among others.
“Before this point, I’ve just been putting my recruitment aside and just worrying about getting better and improving my game, but this is pretty much my last week of AAU so I want to just put it out there that I’m open to every school,” Achiuwa said Wednesday by phone from Las Vegas. “My recruitment is still open. I’m not down to any number of schools, my recruitment is still open to whoever.
“I’m just looking for a situation where I can get better and where it’s going to help me get my game to the next level.”
Achiuwa said he’s uncertain if he will return to St. Benedict’s for his senior year, and that he will form a college list this fall.
“Around September,” he said. “I don’t know how many schools will be on that list yet, but by September I should have a list.”

Wherever he goes, Achiuwa has pro potential going forward.
“He’s a pro, there’s not much to say,” Gray Bees coach Mark Taylor said in January. “He might be the best I’ve ever coached and I had Jay Williams, who was No. 2 in the draft, I had Tyler Ennis, No. 18, and Andrew Bynum, No. 10 in the draft. We’ve had other players make the pros.
“The thing with Precious is, his tools are different. He’s 6-9. His hands are big. He’s athletic. He touches almost the top of the backboard. He blocks shots, he dunks, he runs the floor, he can shoot the three. He just has so many different things that he can do that he can dominate in different areas of the game, which is rare.”
He added: “I think everybody in the country should offer him. The kid is that good and he’s got a 3.8 GPA, so he’s the complete package on and off the court.”
