Byron Hawkins to Bryant

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Byron Hawkins, the 6-foot-1 graduate transfer from Murray State, has committed to Bryant College and will be immediately eligible.

A native of Washington, D.C., he also considered Missouri State and Northern Kentucky.

“I chose Bryant because I believe in Coach [Jared] Grasso and the style of play he wants to play,” Hawkins said. “He and I share a vision to lead Bryant to the [NCAA] Tourney and put me in position to be a pro and get my Masters from a great school.”

Hawkins averaged 7.2 points and 1.3 rebounds last year for a Racers team that made the NCAA Tournament.

As a sophomore at Towson, he averaged 13.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assist.

Hawkins joins point guard Joe Kasperszyk from Woodstock (VT) Academy, power forward Pat Harding from Suffield Academy, and wing Juan Cardenas from Midland (TX) Community College.
