Justin Moore, the 6-foot-4 combo guard from DeMatha Catholic (MD) and Team Takeover, has committed to Villanova, he announced on Wednesday.
“Justin is a winner and to see him going to a program of Villanova’s caliber and to play for a coach like Jay Wright, I could not be more proud and happy for him,” DeMatha head coach Mike Jones said.
Moore chose the defending national champs over Maryland, Notre Dame, Virginia and Wake Forest among others.
Moore is the second commit in coach Jay Wright’s 2019 class along with four-star big man Eric Dixon.
“He brings a winning mentality and an elite ability to score and defend,” Jones said. “His ability to come off of his injury and to be so effective on the court was truly remarkable. There just aren’t many guards like him in high school basketball.”
According to 247Sports, Moore is the No. 58 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 1 prospect from the state of Maryland.
Villanova remains in the hunt for several elite 2019 prospects, including Cole Anthony, Bryan Antoine, Scottie Lewis and Josh Green as well as Nico Mannion, who is looking to reclassify from 2020 to 2019.
