Arizona lands grad transfer Ryan Luther

By SEAN BOCK

Pittsburgh grad transfer Ryan Luther committed to Arizona after an official visit to Tuscon this weekend, according to 247Sports.

“I think I have a good relationship with Coach [Sean] Miller,” Luther told 247Sports. “He came out and saw me and on the visit I got to know him better and the staff. Hanging with the players, I thought they were great guys. I got a good feel for the guys and I enjoyed being with them. I got along with them. They said [Miller] really wants me.”

Luther missed the final 22 games of this season due to a stress reaction in his right foot. In the 10 games he played, the 6-foot-9 Luther averaged 12.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.

“The main reason he chose Arizona is because he was really sold on their athletic training staff and their strength coach,” one source said. “This all has to deal with this foot injury. He feels he will have better attention to make sure he has a healthy year.”

Luther is expected to be given a hardship waiver which will make him eligible immediately.

Other newcomers for Arizona next year are four-star recruits Devonaire Doutrive and Omar Thielemans, the two members of its 2018 recruiting class.
