By ADAM ZAGORIA

Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing made big recruiting news on Monday.

Georgetown announced it has signed guard James Akinjo and forward Omer Yurtseven to National Letters of Intent.

Ewing was the first head coach to visit James Akinjo last month when he obtained his release from his Letter of Intent to UConn.

And it paid off.

The 6-foot point guard announced his commitment to the Hoyas on Monday morning.

“Patrick stresses that he needs a point guard really bad,” Akinjo told ZAGSBLOG last month. “He’s giving me the opportunity to come in and play right away and to also develops under a NBA Coach

A three-star guard according to Scout, Akinjo was named the MVP of the Peach Jam after averaging 18.7 points and 6.7 assists over the course of four days and his Oakland Soldiers team to the title along with USC commit Taeshon Cherry.

Akinjo is the 171st overall prospect and the 34th ranked point guard in the class of 2018.

Yurtseven, a Turkish-born 7-foot, 245-pound center will transfer from N.C. State and will be eligible to play in the 2019-20 season. In his sophomore season, he started 22 of 33 games, averaging 13.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in 23.8 minutes, which earned him All-ACC Third Team honors.

Ewing has also signed 6-9 forward Grayson Carter (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Dunne), 6-6 forward Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, La./Madison Prep Academy) and 6-2 guard Matthew “Mac” McClung (Gate City, Va./Gate City High School).
