After reviewing alleged post-game incident between St. John’s and Xavier, Big East will take no action

After reviewing an alleged post-game incident near the locker rooms after Xavier beat St. John’s in their Big East Tournament quarterfinal at Madison Square Garden, the Big East will take no action.

“We have reviewed the actions following the St. John’s-Xavier game and do not plan to take disciplinary action,” Stu Jackson, Big East Associate. Commissioner for Men’s Basketball, said in a statement Thursday night.

Following Xavier’s 88-60 win over St. John’s, words were exchanged between Xavier’s Tyrique Jones and St. John’s Bashir Ahmed that was caught by the Fox cameras. Some pushing and shoving appeared to ensue.

“I’m not going to throw anybody under the bus,” said Xavier coach Chris Mack , whose team meets No. 5 Providence in the semifinals on Friday. “A couple guys didn’t want to shake hands. Let’s concentrate on the game.”
