Recruiting Roundup: Balsa Koprivica, Ashton Hagans, LaQuill Hardnett

By JACOB POLACHECK

Balsa Koprivica, the 7-foot center from Montverde Academy, will begon his first official visit to Baylor on Tuesday, Montverde head coach Kevin Boyle told ZAGSBLOG. He will be in attendance for Baylor’s matchup against Oklahoma on Tuesday night.

The visit was first reported by Corey Evans.

“He’s one of those guys with great feet, great hands,” longtime Montverde assistant Rae Miller told ZAGSBLOG. “He runs well, and has great room for physical development. He shoots the ball well, puts the ball on the floor, very skilled for a big kid, and is a kid that anything around the rim, he can finish above and through people.

“As he gets stronger, and a little bit more physical, he’s going to become very, very good around the basket.”

According to 247Sports, Koprivica is ranked as the No. 15 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 3 player from the state of Florida. Last month, Koprivica told ZAGSBLOG that Baylor and Florida State were the main schools recruiting him.

PATRICK EWING TO SEE FIVE-STAR POINT GUARD ASHTON HAGANS

Patrick Ewing will be in on Wednesday to see five-star PG Ashton Hagans, coach Chris Williams, told ZAGSBLOG.

It was first reported by Julius Kim.

Hagans announced his de-commitment from Georgia on Monday with Georgia coach Mark Fox on the hot set seat.”

“He’s not all the way backing (out),” Hagans’ father Marvin Hagans told Rivals. “We just need to figure out what’s going on. Georgia is still at the top. We just don’t want to go into a situation that we didn’t sign up for.”

Following his de-commitment, 247Sports reported that Hagans may reclassify from the 2019 class to 2018.

LAQUILL HARDNETT TO CINCINNATI

LaQuill Hardnett, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Perry Hall (MD) High School, committed to Cincinnati on Monday, in an announcement made by his mother before his game on Monday.

“I feel like Cincinnati is the place where they are going to push me to become a great player,” Hardnett told 247Sports on Monday. “They will take me out of my comfort zone and that will make me better and make me work harder.”

Hardnett joins Logan Johnson as the second commit in the Bearcats’ 2018 recruiting class. He chose Cincinnati over schools such as Buffalo, St. Bonaventure and Western Kentucky, among others.

“I love the whole coaching staff,” said Hardnett. “Coach Antwon [Jackson] is my guy. He was the main one recruiting me and we have a great relationship. He showed me that they can get me to where I want to be and they have a plan to get me there.”
