Keldon Johnson, the 6-foot-6 wing from Oak Hill Academy (VA), will make his college choice on Saturday, according to his high school coach, Steve Smith.
Johnson will announce at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday. His final four schools are Kentucky, Maryland, N.C. State and Texas.
Johnson’s father said earlier this week he wouldn’t be surprised if Keldon waited until the spring period to decide, but Johnson has changed his plans.
“I have talked it over with my parents, and we are all on the same page,” Johnson told ESPN.
Johnson broke down each of his schools for PlayMakerScouting.com.
Texas: “Shaka [Smart] is a great coach, they have a great program, they have a lot of pros come out of there but ultimately I have a great relationship with Coach Shaka and his staff.”
Kentucky: “Historic program, great coaching, they develop players really well and stuff like that.”
N.C. State: “Great coaching staff, I love Coach [Kevin] Keatts and Coach [James] Johnson. I have heard a lot of great things about them.”
Maryland: “Coach [Mark] Turgeon is a historic coach, they have a lot of pros and things like that so I like them a lot.”
Playing with Boo Williams this summer on the EYBL Circuit, Johnson averaged 20.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
According to 247Sports, Johnson is the No. 14 player in the 2018 class and the No. 2 shooting guard.
