Jonathan Kabongo to Virginia Tech

Jonathan Kabongo, the 6-foot-3 point guard from Putnam Science (CT), committed to Virginia Tech following his first official visit this past weekend.

Ranked the No. 48 point guard in the Class of 2018, Kabongo joins shooting guards Landers Nolley and Jarren McAllister in coach Buzz Williams’ 2018 class.

“Kabongo found a great fit in Virginia Tech,” Putnam Science assistant Josh Scraba said. “Though we are just getting him back on the floor with us full time, he has showed he is a very high level prospect. Through his rehab on back injury [strained back], I couldn’t believe his dedication and hard work. The talent is obvious with him. You’re talking about a kid that would probably be a top 60 player had it not been for injury. He comes back full time today. Virginia Tech fans should be excited! They got a good one.”
