David Duke, the 6-foot-3 combo guard from Providence (MA) Cushing Academy, will make his college decision at around 6 p.m. on Friday.
Duke is down to four schools and has taken official visits to Florida (Sept. 22), Virginia Tech (Sept. 29), and Providence (Oct. 6). Villanova is the other program included in his list. Duke broke down his schools for D1Vision in July.
Providence: “Coach [Ed] Cooley is a great guy, who shows me that I’m their top recruit and he has a great record of developing his point guards to get them NBA ready.”
Virginia Tech: “Buzz [Williams] has built Virginia Tech up by doing all the right things, and he recruits players who play hard. I like their playing style, and he also has told me that they’re on me hard as one of their top recruits.”
Florida: “I love how they play, and I’ve built a relationship with their coaches. They have a good situation for me there. They see my potential and say they can develop me.”
Villanova: “They have me as a top recruit. They believe [Jalen] Brunson will be leaving which creates an opportunity for me.”
Playing with Mass Rivals on the Adidas Gauntlet summer circuit, Duke averaged 9.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in only 16.2 minutes per game.
According to 247Sports, Duke is ranked as the No. 48 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 1 player from the state of Rhode Island.
