Jordan Brown, the 6-foot-10 power forward from Prolific Prep (CA), has two official visits upcoming in the next few weeks.
Brown will visit St. John’s Oct. 13 for their Red Storm Tip-Off event, and will then visit UCLA the weekend of Oct. 20.
“There are no other visits set,” Dion Brown, the player’s father, said from the USA Basketball minicamp in Colorado Springs, Colo. “But we would like to take all five visits at some point. A lot will depend on our basketball schedule this season.”
Brown recently cut his list to a top seven of California, Gonzaga, Louisiana Lafayette, Nevada, Oregon, St. John’s, and UCLA.
St. John’s is no longer recruiting 7-foot-2 Moses Brown, who was also at the USA Basketball minicamp and is focusing on Maryland and UCLA, and is instead focusing on Brown and Louisiana guard Greg Williams, who visits later in October.

“They have head coach Chris Mullin and assistant coach Mitch Richmond and those are two NBA legends who give me really good input about the game,” Brown told Rivals St. John’s. “Their playing style, I think they play like a mix of Golden State and maybe a bit of the San Antonio Spurs. That style and going there and learning to play an NBA style could really help me for the next level.”
Even though St. John’s is 3,000 miles away, the appeal of playing in the Big East and in Madison Square Garden is also strong.
“Hey, like they say, if you can succeed in New York, you can succeed anywhere,” his father Dion Brown told ZAGSBLOG. “That’s exciting. That’s on our mind as well. It’s on the other side of the country, that’s 3,000 miles away. But you know when you got Chris Mullin and Mitch Richmond texting you and paying that kind of attention, coming down to watch your games. The one thing that I like is they’ve seen him play great, they’ve seen him play OK, they’ve seen him play not so well. Chris Mullin can see things in a kid where he knows where they’re going to be at.”
As for UCLA, Jordan Brown told Rivals: “It’s kind of the same thing overall that I like about St. John’s. They are probably going to have another really good team this year and by the time I should get there. They also play a pro style and I think that could really help me out for the next level.”
According to 247Sports, Brown is ranked as the No. 6 overall player in the Class of 2018, while Scout ranked him as the No. 20 overall player in their updated rankings.
He plans to sign in the spring.
“I’m still planning to wait until the spring,” he told Rivals. “I want to watch the playing styles, figure out who the teams will have and make sure that the coaching staffs will still be there when I am.”
