Arizona coach Sean Miller issues first statement on college corruption scandal

Arizona coach Sean Miller on Tuesday issued his first comments in the wake of the college corruption scandal that saw four coaches, including Arizona assistant Emanuel “Book” Richardson, arrested last Tuesday by federal officials.

Richardson, a New York native who faces up to 80 years in prison, faces his next court date Oct. 10 in front of a United States Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York.

The Arizona Daily Star reported that two Arizona commits, forward Shareef O’Neal and guard Brandon Williams, “appear on board for now.”

Hudson Catholic point guard Jahvon Quinerly, who committed to Arizona on Aug. 8, has not addressed his plans in the wake of the investigation.

Simi Shittu, the 6-10 forward from Vermont Academy, cancelled his official visit to Arizona on Nov. 3 in the wake of the scandal.
