Eric Ayala recaps Maryland visit, Oregon up next

Eric Ayala, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound combo guard from the  WE-R1 AAU program and IMG Academy, visited Maryland this weekend for his second official visit.

“They’ve been recruiting me longer then any other school so the relationship is definitely there,” he said. They want me to “come in and help them win even more then they have been. They feel I would fit right in with my winning background. The opportunity is there for me to come in and play right away. Coach [Mark] Turgeon plays his best players. He started three freshman, so that’s interesting.”

Ayala visited the same weekend as Oak Hill Academy (VA) wing Keldon Johnson and Providence Day School (N.C.) point guard Devon Dotson.

“I got to spend a lot of time with those guys, especially Keldon,” he said. “Me and him got real close throughout the weekend.”

Ayala will next visit Oregon later this week.

“I visit Oregon this Thursday coming up,” he said. “As of right now that’ll be my last visit but things could change from now till then.”

He cut Syracuse and Ohio State from his list and has already visited Miami, although he said he didn’t hear from Miami during the past week.
