Joey Hauser to Marquette

By JACOB POLACHECK

Joey Hauser, the 6-foot-8 power forward from Stevens Point Area (WI) Senior High School, announced his commitment to Marquette on Sunday via Twitter.

Hauser is the younger brother of current Marquette rising sophomore Sam Hauser. According to 247Sports, Hauser is ranked as the No. 37 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 1 player from the state of Wisconsin. He is the first commit in Marquette’s 2018 class but will also be joined by Brendan Bailey, who committed to Marquette in October 2015, and he’s currently in the final year of his two-year LDS mission.

Hauser chose Marquette over schools such as Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue, Virginia, and Bradley. He took unofficial visits to Wisconsin (Feb. 19 and June 22), Michigan State (Feb. 26 and June 24), and Marquette (June 23).

Marquette has one scholarship remaining in the class of 2018. Playing on the adidas Gauntlet with the Iowa Barnstormers this summer, Hauser has averaged 17.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists through seven games. He helped lead the Barnstormers to an 8-5 record on the circuit.
