DePaul lands Illinois transfer Jalen Coleman-Lands

By SEAN BOCK

Former Illinois shooting guard Jalen Coleman-Lands will play his remaining two years of eligibility in Chicago for the DePaul Blue Demons and second-year head coach Dave Leitao.

In his sophomore season for the Fighting Illini, Coleman-Lands averaged eight points per game while shooting 38 percent from three-point land which is what he does best on the offensive end.

Coleman-Lands is the second player with LaPorte (IN) La Lumiere High School ties to commit to DePaul this offseason along with 2018 PG Tyger Campbell after Shane Heirman, who coached both Campbell and Coleman-Lands at La Lumiere, was brought on to the Blue Demon coaching staff in May.

“That’s definitely an important factor being that he coached me on a basketball level,” Coleman-Lands told Scout. “Having that player-coach relationship, to be able to have that asset on the college end I had to take into consideration.”

Coleman-Lands will have to sit out one year before he can play two years for DePaul.
