Kevin Porter Jr., the 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Rainier Beach (WA) High School, announced his commitment to USC on Sunday via Twitter.
“First off, I would like to thank my family, friends, and my coaches who’ve been with me since the start of my journey,” said Porter in a statement released via Twitter. “I want to thank all the colleges that were recruiting me, had trust in me and gave me an opportunity to attend a four-year university.”
Porter chose USC over California, Oregon State, Oregon, UCLA, and Washington. He did not take any visits before committing to USC.
Porter joins J’Raan Brooks and Taeshon Cherry as the third commit in USC’s 2018 class. Both committed earlier this week. Porter’s commitment gives USC the No. 3 ranked recruiting class according to 247Sports.
Playing on the Nike EYBL with Seattle Rotary Style, Porter has averaged 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.9 steals per game. Seattle Rotary finished with a dismal 4-12 record, missing out on Peach Jam.
“After me and my family discussed, I’ve decided to close my recruitment and commit to the University of Southern California,” he said. “Go Trojans.”
According to 247Sports, Porter is ranked as the No. 71 overall player in the Class of 2018, and the No. 2 player from the state of Washington.
