Immanuel Quickley, the 6-foot-3 point guard from John Carroll (MD) School, told Evan Daniels of Scout.com on Kentucky Sports Radio Wednesday that “Kentucky is definitely the favorite” in his recruitment.
Quickley recently made the cut for the USA Basketball U-19 team that will compete in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Cairo, Egypt July 1-9. With the U-19 Team, Quickley will be playing alongside incoming Kentucky freshmen Hamidou Diallo and PJ Washington. Kentucky head coach John Calipari is coaching the team.
He also spoke in detail about the Kentucky Wildcats with Kyle Tucker of SEC Country earlier this month. “It really means everything, because you don’t want to go somewhere the players haven’t been successful in the same position,” said Quickley, whose goal in Team USA camp is to show Calipari “that if I were to go to Kentucky, I could carry the torch for whatever point guard I come after.”
According to 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions, Kentucky has a 100 percent to land Quickley, with 13 experts all predictting the Wildcats to be his choice. He is ranked as the No. 10 overall player in the Class of 2018 and No. 2 point guard.“What they’ve done with their players, that does give them an advantage,” said Quickley.
After cutting his list to Kentucky, Kansas, Maryland, and Miami recently, Quickley has said that he will make his college decision prior to the start of his senior season.
