Jordan Tucker to Duke

The long and winding recruitment of Jordan Tucker has ended in storybook fashion.

The 6-foot-7 wing from White Plains, N.Y., committed to Duke on Saturday following an official visit this week.

“It is with great pleasure that I have decided to attend Duke University next season and join the Brotherhood,” he Tweeted.

Tucker chose Duke after they offered him a scholarship on Saturday when they lost out on Kevin Knox to Kentucky.

Tucker had been courted by Syracuse, Villanova and Georgia Tech most recently before narrowing it to Duke and Syracuse.

“Jordan is a very skilled, tough guard that can score from every level on the floor,” NY Rens coach Andy Borman said. “He is a very efficient and very dangerous offensive player that can change the game in an instant. He can score off the pass, off the dribble, in the lane, and in mid-range. His court vision and passing are what makes him a very complete offensive player.

“His upside is through the roof. His is an immediate impact player and recruit at the next level. He will be called upon to play major minutes and to help his team win right away.

“I loved coaching Jordan. There wasn’t a single thing that he couldn’t do and was a willing learner and teammate. He is going to be playing basketball for a very long time as both a college player and a professional player after that.”

Tucker joins a stellar recruiting class that already includes point guard Jordan Goldwire and shooting guards Alex O’Connell and Gary Trent Jr. and power forward Wendell Carter Jr.

Duke also remains in the mix for big man Mohamed Bamba and point guard Trevon Duval, the Nos. 3 and 5 players in the ESPN rankings.

With the addition of this recruiting class along with the return of Grayson Allen and Marques Bolden Duke will again be among the favorites to contend for the NCAA championship.

Tucker is the latest Rens player to commit in the Class of 2017, following Hamidou Diallo (Kentucky), Jordan Nwora (Louisville), Jose Alvarado (Georgia Tech), Samson George, (Iona), Jake Klores (Columbia), Noah Morgan (FDU) and Greg Calixte (George Mason).
