Manhattan Lands Power Forward Edwin Ebube

Manhattan and coach Steve Masiello on Tuesday continued to add to their 2017 recruiting class.

Edwin Ebube, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound power forward from the Puerto Rico Playmakers AAU program and a postgrad at  Lawrenceville (N.J.) Academy, committed to Manhattan during an official visit. He also considered Niagara.

“I chose Manhattan because I felt comfortable around the coaches and player, as well as I know they’re going to push me to continue to grow as a player,” he said. “I think I bring a versatility to play inside and out, play multiple positions and bring defensive intensity on the court.”

Ebube, who played at the Episcopal (VA) School before Lawrenceville, joins Susquehanna (PA) Township point guard Nehemiah “Bud” Mack, Bayonne (N.J.) shooting guard Patrick Strzala and St. Benedict’s Prep power forward Warren Williams’ in Manhattan’s 2017 class.

“Ebube is an incredibly versatile player for his size,” Lawrenceville coach Ronald Kane said. “He brings strength and athleticism, but he also has a polished skill set and is an excellent passer. He certainly has a very bright future with the Jaspers.”
