Kansas’ Bill Self to Be Inducted into Hall of Fame

By JACOB POLACHECK

Kansas Head Coach Bill Self will be among the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductees officially announced Saturday, per ESPN.

Self has won 13 consecutive Big 12 regular-season titles and also won a national title in 2008. He led the Jayhawks to a 31-5 (16-2 Big-12) in 2016 and led them to an Elite-8 appearance for the second straight year.

A group of 14 finalists for this year’s induction class were announced in February. That list also included first-time entries Chris Webber, Sidney Moncrief, Tracy McGrady, Rebecca Lobo, Rudy Tomjanovich, Rollie Massimino, Kim Mulkey and longtime referee Hugh Evans.

Previous finalists returning to the ballot included Tim Hardaway, Muffet McGraw, Bo Ryan, record-setting high school coach Robert Hughes and 10-time AAU national champion of Wayland Baptist University.
