John Calipari Uses Devin Booker’s 70-Point Night as Kentucky Recruiting Pitch

Leave it to John Calipari to use Devin Booker’s 70-point night as a recruiting pitch.

That’s why the guy’s a genius when it comes to promoting the Kentucky brand (as one of the ESPN hosts pointed out on Saturday).

“He goes for 70 tonight,” Calipari said Friday after Kentucky’s 86-75 win over UCLA in the Sweet 16 in Memphis. “How you get 70? Like you showed up our team. We just had a great win and they’re going to be talking about Devin Booker all night now.”

Kentucky had 24 players on NBA opening-night rosters and Calipari has often talked about wanting Kentucky products to make up half of the NBA All-Star Game.

Kentucky has four players in Wednesday’s McDonald’s All-American GameQuade Green, Nick Richards, Jarred Vanderbilt and P.J. Washington — and remains in the mix for uncommitted McDonald’s All-Americans Mohamed Bamba and Kevin Knox. The game is set for Wednesday in Chicago.
