It’s been quite a week for the future Minnesota backcourt of Isaiah Washington and Jamir Harris.
The two future Gophers are piling up awards and championships.
Early Monday, Washington was named New York State Mr. Basketball. That night, Harris won the prestigious New Jersey Tournament of Champions title with his Patrick School teammates.
“Winning NY Mr. Basketball is a great accomplishment,” St. Raymond’s coach Jorge Lopez said. “It is well deserved for Isaiah as he joins the ranks of past players Terrence Rencher, Peter Mulligan and Julius Hodge. The St. Raymond community, the basketball staff, his teammates as well as the St. Raymond Administration are extremely proud of him.”
Washington, the leader of the “Jelly Roll” family that also includes Harris’ teammate Jordan Walker, averaged 26 points and 6 assists this season.
On Monday night, Harris went for 12 points and 2 assists to help The Patrick School win its sixth TOC title, 69-55, over Don Bosco Prep in Trenton, N.J.
Both Washington and Harris will also play in the Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game on April 14 at Barclays Center.
“It will be an amazing feeling,” Harris said.
