Armstead in a Holding Pattern

Malcolm Armstead, a 6-foot point guard out of Chipola (Fl.) College,  remains uncommitted after a weekend visit to Oregon.

“He did not commit at all,” Chipola coach Greg Heiar wrote Monday in a text message. “He’s going to wait and think about some things.”

Armstead, named the Best Small Player at the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament, recently visited St. John’s and enjoyed the trip. Heiar said no other visits are currently planned.

A native of Florence, AL, Armstead has numerous suitors, including St. John’s, Iowa, Alabama, Wichita State, Rutgers, UNC Charlotte, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Creighton, Southern Miss and Memphis.

  • Thanks for the update, Adam. I’m guessing that Heiar potentially getting a DOBO job at Memphis or Southern Miss is what Armstead is “thinking about.” Any updates on Malik Stith would be much appreciated.
