Former Indiana guard Yogi Ferrell is expected to sign a two-year minimum deal with the Dallas Mavericks following the completion of his 10-day contract, league sources confirmed to ZAGSBLOG.
The news was first reported by The Vertical.
“Our guys love him and we are thrilled by how well he has been playing,” Mavs owner Mark Cuban told ESPN via the Dust messaging app.
Ferrell, the all-time assist leader in Indiana history, went for 32 points in Dallas’ 108-104 win Friday night over Portland, including 9-of-11 from beyond the arc. An undrafted free agent, he opened the season with the Nets, averaging 5.3 points while playing in nine games. He spent several stints in the NBA D-League while also battling an ankle sprain.
Since signing a 10-day with Dallas on Jan. 27, Ferrell has caught fire, averaging 17.8 points and 3.0 rebounds.
