Darnell Brodie to Seton Hall

Seton Hall landed a Christmas Eve commitment from Darnell Brodie, a 6-foot-9, 250-pound Class of 2017 center from Putnam Science Academy (CT).

Brodie, a former teammate of Seton Hall forward Ismael Sanogo at Newark East Side, attended Seton Hall’s 72-61 win over Rutgers on Friday night at Prudential Center.

He also reportedly held offers from Iona, Temple, UMass, Monmouth, East Carolina and Saint Joseph’s.

“When I picked my college I wanted to go somewhere they needed me, somewhere they could push me every day and develop me into the player I wanna be. Seton Hall is the right fit,” he told The Setonian. “I love the coaching staff, I love the atmosphere of the program itself.”

Brodie’s commitment comes just days after Seton Hall dismissed sophomore forward Myles Carter from the program.

Said Putnam coach Tom Espinosa: “Darnell has only been playing for four years. He is big, strong and fast; his best basketball is ahead of him for sure.”

Brodie joins shooting guard Myles Cale in Seton Hall’s 2017 calss. The Pirates remain in the mix for elite point guard Trevon Duval, who is down to Seton Hall, Duke, Kansas, Baylor and Arizona.
