Rhode Island senior forward Hassan Martin and sophomore guard Christion Thompson are both out for an “extended period of time,” a source close to the program told ZAGSBLOG.
Neither played for the Rams in Saturday’s game 82-77 loss at Houston in which E.C. Matthews went for 31 points.
The school previously announced that Martin was out indefinitely with a quadriceps muscle injury.
Thompson has a knee injury.
Through eight games this season, Martin leads the Rams in scoring (16.1 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg). His 3.9 blocked shots per game average ranks third and his 67.1% field goal percentage ranks 14th, respectively on the NCAA Division I statistical leaders.
Thompson, the team’s sixth man, is averaging 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds.
