Brandon McCoy Visits Michigan State, Breaks Down Final 5

Brandon McCoy, the 6-foot-10 power forward from San Diego (CA) Cathedral Catholic, took an official visit to Michigan State this past weekend.

He recently cut his list to a Top 5 of Michigan State, Oregon, Arizona, UNLV and San Diego State, and has visited all of them.

He broke down all of his schools with Sean Scherer of 247Sports.com:

Oregon: “Oregon is Oregon and my brother went there. That’s somewhere you always have to think about when Phil Knight went there and you’re big fan of Nike. So to be able to play for a school that he went to would be a big opportunity to make a good impression on Nike as well. Also playing for a good team.”

San Diego State: “It’s at home where I live. It’s close to where I’m going to stay on the same path in high school. That’s where I wanted to go to high school at. That’s a great school.”

Arizona: “I’ve had a relationship with them since I was in the eighth grade. They were the first school that I got mail from. We have kept a relationship with them. Even when they got DeAndre Ayton they let me know I was still their No. 1 priority.”

UNLV: “They kind of just got into the picture. Coach (Marvin) Menzies genuinely wants his players to get better. I can see that he does take care of his players even off the court.”

Michigan State: “Coming out here, I knew and had a little appreciation of what I was going to expect. Tom Izzo is a phenomenal coach and a phenomenal person. The people that are here are phenomenal people, as well.”
