Anthony Mack, a 6-foot-6 wing from Blair (N.J.) Academy, verbally committed to Wyoming on Wednesday.
Mack, who can play the 1, 2 and 3, also considered Georgia, Villanova, St. Louis and Missouri. He is a big guard who can shoot the ball well, pass effectively and should fit well into Wyoming’s system.
“Wyoming recently won the Mountain West Conference, had a first round-draft pick and has past coaches presently coaching in the NBA,” Mack said.
“The conference has a great west coast schedule, including UNLV, where I grew up the first nine years of my life and still have family. Coach [Allen] Edwards is a two-time NCAA champion while at Kentucky, a great player, and a coach who I can learn a lot from . Coach Edwards can and wants to help me get to the next level after college.
“I want to be on at the start of Coach Edwards’ years, bringing a winner each year to the State of Wyoming (where there is only one large school university in the state).”
Mack is the fourth Blair Academy player to commit this fall, following forward Deng Gak (Miami), point guard Matt Turner (Santa Clara) and stretch-4 Zach Kent (Tennessee).
“Anthony is one of the top-five shooters who ever played at Blair and one of the five toughest competitors who’s ever player at the school,” Blair coach Joe Mantegna said. “That is a very desirable combination and Wyoming got an absolute steal as he is a power-five -level player.”
