Darryl Morsell to Maryland

Darryl Morsell, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound combo guard from Baltimore (MD) Mount Saint Joseph and the Team Melo AAU Program, committed to Maryland on Wednesday but won’t sign during the NCAA early signing period Nov. 9-16.

Morsell also considered Notre Dame and Dayton. He previously cut Villanova and Virginia Tech from his top five.

Morsell visited Maryland for their Midnight Madness along with 6-10 commit Bruno Fernando.

“It was good,” he said.

Morsell averaged 10.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game last season when he led Mount Saint Joseph to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship game, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Dwayne Wise of Team Melo said Maryland is getting a guy who can contribute immediately.

“Because of Darryl’s versatility as a defender combined with his slashing ability and improved jump shot, he has an unlimited ceiling,” Wise said.
