Pitino to the Mavs?

PitinoGregg Doyel of CBSSports says he has sources who say Louisville coach Rick Pitino inquired about the Miami Heat vacancy and speculates that Pitino might be a candidate to replace the fired Avery Johnson in Dallas.

With the way Pitino and Larry Brown have moved around over the years, it wouldn’t shock us.

Now I don’t want to start a tidal wave of panic by Louisville commits, I’m just saying. If this were to happen, guys like Samardo Samuels of St. Benedict’s Prep who committed to Louisville might be back on the market. Samuels was recently named the USA Today National Player of the Year.

Pitino was recently ranked the No. 2 coach behind UConn’s Jim Calhoun in the Big East by one blogger.
