McKinley Wright, a 6-foot point guard from Champlin Park (MN) Senior High School, announced his commitment to the Dayton Flyers today on Tuesday after taking his official visit.
“I love the city because it’s a college town and the fans are nuts!” said Wright. “I’ll play a ton as a freshman [and] I have a great relationship with the coaches and players.”
Ranked the No. 48 point guard in the Class of 2017 by 247Sports.com, Wright was also considering Minnesota, which on Sunday landed New York point guard Isaiah Washington.
Wright took his official visits to both Dayton and Minnesota earlier this month, visiting Dayton on Sept. 9 and Minnesota on Sept. 2.
“It’s the best fit for him,” Al Harris, said Wright’s mentor and coach. “His decision came down to fit and trust amongst the coaching staff. He chose a program with a coach that has a similar personality and a winning community!”
Wright is the third commit in the Flyer’s 2017 recruiting class, joining shooting guard Jordan Davis and power forward, Jordan Pierce.
