The 6-foot-6 Trent Jr. and 6-10 Wendell Carter Jr. won a gold medal with the USA U17 team at the World Championship in Spain, and the two have talked openly about a potential package deal, with Duke the leading contender for both.
“The package deal is most definitely on,” Trent said the other day at Adidas Nations. “He was actually my roommate at the Nike Academy and he’s my roommate before we go, so we have continue to bond and grow as people.”
Carter Jr. is down to eight schools, including Duke, Kentucky and Arizona. His other five schools — Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Harvard and Cal — are not on Trent Jr.’s list.
Carter did not mention a timetable for when he plans to commit, while Trent said he would like to make his decision in the fall.
“I want to commit before the season starts.” explained Trent. “I don’t want to go every game with questions about where I’m gonna go or commit. So I want to get that out of the way.”
