CELEBRATION, Fla. –– Christian Brown has been a beast at the Super Showcase in Orlando.
Brown and the Georgia Stars dominated the Houston Defenders in an 81-56 win in front of coaches from UNC, Virginia, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Texas, Clemson and many more.
The 6-foot-7 rising sophomore small forward had 18 points in the win.
“It’s been a really productive summer for me so far,” Brown told SNY.tv after the win. “This is a really good experience playing in front of college coaches. It makes me play harder, and it’s a thinking game, and it’s about decision making and your IQ. Playing in front of coaches is a really good experience.”
Coming off of a year in which the A.C. Flora (S.C.) small forward helped lead the school to a 26-2 record and a state championship, Brown will be counted on as a leader to try to duplicate the feat.
“I need to be a team leader this year,” Brown said. “We lost two seniors, so me just stepping up and being a team leader would be huge. James (Reese) and I are going to be returning, so we need to really step up and be leaders so we can go back to back.”
Brown currently holds 11 D-1 offers from Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Georgia, Tennessee, Georgia State, Western Kentucky, College of Charleston, with heavy interest from Kansas.
“I’m working on my shot a lot,” Brown said. “I’m gaining confidence by crashing the boards and breaking down defenders. My game is slashing, so I’m working on getting easy putbacks down low as well.”
Expect that offer to grow exponentially over the next year or so.
