PHILADELPHIA – David Beatty cut his list to eight schools late last month, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still grow.
The Philadelphia native and star combo guard at St. Benedict’s Prep led Philly Pride to a win over Team Takeover late Saturday afternoon at the Elevate Hoops Summer Showdown, then clarified his recruiting situation.
“I’m still open, but I cut my list to eight schools because that’s just who I’m interested in,” said Beatty, who is a top-100 recruit and top-3 combo guard nationally according to 247sports.com’s composite rankings. “I’m still open, so if any other school comes in the mix, I might be interested.
“That list might grow.”
On June 28, Beatty announced on Twitter he was down to UCLA, Maryland, Connecticut, Indiana, Georgetown, Virginia, LaSalle and Temple in no particular order. On Saturday, he reiterated that there was no order and that no one school stood out at this point.
“Everybody is at the same point with contacting me, calling me, talking to my mom and stuff like that,” Beatty said. “I’m living the dream, ain’t no dream school. The dream is the NBA.”
Beatty does not have any visits set and offered no timetable for when he would like to commit.”
“It could happen at any moment,” Beatty said. “It could happen next week, I don’t know. It’s just about getting a feel for it.”
